Dr. Hope Gonzaga, DVM
MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Gonzaga is the Medical Director of Packanack Animal Hospital. She earned her DVM from the University of Illinois and began her veterinary career in the Albany area before joining our team. Dr. Gonzaga is passionate about all facets of veterinary medicine, with a strong focus on preventive care and improving her patients’ quality of life through every stage. Her goal is to provide thoughtful, compassionate care while building lasting relationships with both pets and their people.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Gonzaga enjoys spending time with her family and her three beloved pets—Ellie, Jelly, and Chloe—who make sure life is always lively. She also finds joy in reading, baking, and embracing the occasional challenge of trying a new recipe (even if her furry kitchen crew is mostly there for the crumbs).

Her approach is simple: “Treat every patient like family, because to their families, they are everything.”

Dr. Victoria Dodson, DVM

Dr. Dodson, a proud Northern New Jersey native, has been an animal lover for as long as she can remember—her career in veterinary medicine was written in the stars (and maybe a few paw prints). She earned her DVM from Michigan State University in 2018 and has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and providing compassionate end-of-life care.

At home, life is full and lively with her husband, two kids, two dogs, a blind cat who runs the show, and two ball pythons who prefer to keep things low-key. When she’s not in the hospital, Dr. Dodson loves heading to the Adirondacks with her family for hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling adventures. On quieter days, she enjoys gardening and crocheting—although sometimes her yarn becomes an unexpected cat toy.

Dr. Dodson believes in treating every patient with the same care and kindness she would want for her own pets, and in supporting families through every stage of their pets’ lives.

Dr. Nicole Mahoney, DVM

Growing up in Ringwood, NJ, Dr. Mahoney was always the one bringing home animals in need — from hatching baby birds to raising Labrador puppies, she knew early on that caring for animals was her calling. That passion led her to pursue her veterinary degree at Ross University, followed by clinical training at Cornell University.

Dr. Mahoney loves building connections with both pets and their people. She has a special interest in surgery, anesthesia, and internal medicine, and takes pride in making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and well-cared for during their visit.

Outside the hospital, you’ll likely find her out on a hiking trail, soaking up the sun at the beach, or spending quality time with family, friends, and of course, her furry companions.

Dr. Laura Katz, DVM

Dr. Katz is a New Jersey native whose passion for veterinary medicine began while volunteering at Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City. After earning her undergraduate degree from New York University, she received the Decades of Excellence scholarship to attend St. George’s University in the West Indies and completed her clinical training at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists and has since worked as an Emergency Clinician across the Northeast.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Katz enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their sweet hound, Odin. She loves exploring local parks, baking with her daughter, and enjoying a well-earned quiet moment with a good book or cup of coffee.

Dr. Katz brings a calm, thoughtful approach to every case and is committed to making pets and their families feel supported every step of the way. She understands how deeply people love their pets and strives to create a welcoming, compassionate environment—where every question is heard, every concern is valid, and every tail gets the care it deserves.
